Hair Transplant Results, and How to Read Them
Before-and-after photos are the industry’s main proof, and its main marketing trick. Here is how to judge any clinic’s gallery, including ours.
Five things to check in any before-and-after
- The timestamp. A credible "after" is taken at 12 months or later. Photos at month 6 show half a result; photos at month 2 show nothing but healed skin.
- The lighting. Harsh overhead light in the before, soft frontal light in the after is the oldest trick in the gallery. Look for matched lighting and background.
- The angle and hair state. Same angle, same hair length, dry hair in both, wet or styled hair hides and exaggerates.
- The case details. Technique, graft count and months elapsed should be stated. Vague galleries are vague for a reason.
- Consent and volume. Real clinics publish real patients with consent, and can show consistency across many cases, not three hero shots.
How we publish results
Every case in our gallery is a real BlueMagic Group Clinic patient, published with explicit consent, labelled with technique and the months elapsed. We photograph final results in the 12–18 month window because that is when a transplant is finished, the same window stated on the Lifetime Medical Guarantee Certificate (terms apply).
And the honest disclaimer, stated as policy rather than small print: individual results vary. Your density, donor characteristics, healing biology and adherence to aftercare all shape your outcome. A gallery tells you what a team can do, your assessment tells you what is realistic for you.

The timeline behind every photo
What a gallery cannot show is the year between the two frames. Transplanted hairs shed in weeks 2–8, the notorious shock loss that worries every patient who was not warned. Regrowth starts around month 3, reaches at least half the expected result by month 6, and matures to final density at 12–18 months, with crowns running roughly six months behind frontal zones. A good indication of final coverage is usually visible at 9–10 months.
This is why we schedule photo check-ins at 1, 3, 6 and 12 months: progress is judged against the curve, not against the finished gallery.

Are these photos edited?
No. Cases are published as photographed, with consent, labelled with technique and timeline. We would rather show honest results than perfect-looking ones, dishonest galleries create the disappointed patients that repair pages are written for.
Can I see results for my hair type and pattern?
Send your photos in the free assessment and ask, the team can speak to comparable cases and, where consented material exists, show you outcomes for similar patterns rather than generic best-ofs.
Why do some afters look denser than others?
Because patients differ: donor density, hair calibre, curl, contrast with skin tone and area size all shape how coverage reads. Two identical graft counts can look different on two heads, which is why no serious clinic promises a specific look.
When should I judge my own result?
Formally at 12–18 months, with a useful preview around 9–10 months. Judging at month 4 is judging a cake half-baked, the check-in schedule exists so you always know whether you are on curve.
