What can go wrong, and what can be fixed
Most repair cases we see share the same causes: a hairline placed too low or drawn too straight, multi-hair grafts used at the leading edge (the pluggy look), angles that fight the natural direction of growth, density spread too thin to read as coverage, or a donor area harvested carelessly and left patchy. Some patients arrive with all five.
Much of this is correctable. Harsh lines can be softened by placing fine single grafts in front of and between old work. Thin zones can be re-densified. Poorly angled grafts can be camouflaged with correctly angled hair around them, and in select cases individual bad grafts can be removed and redistributed. Donor scarring can often be improved with grafts placed into scar tissue.
The honest limits
Repair works with what remains. If a previous clinic depleted your donor area, the graft budget for correction is smaller, and priorities must be chosen: usually the hairline first, because it is what people see. Grafts into scar tissue take at somewhat lower rates than into healthy skin. And a severely overharvested donor may cap what any surgeon, anywhere, can honestly achieve. We will tell you which of these applies to you before you spend anything.
Repair cases are reviewed personally by the medical team before any quote, photos of the donor area are as important as the front.

Recovery after a repair session
Recovery follows the standard transplant pattern: first wash at the clinic on day 2–3, a daily washing routine for 10 days, shedding of transplanted hairs in weeks 2–8, regrowth from month 3 and final assessment at 12–18 months. Grafts placed into scar tissue can be slower to declare themselves, which is one more reason repair patience runs longer.
Risks specific to repair
Alongside standard transplant risks, swelling, numbness, folliculitis, rare infection, repair adds two specifics: somewhat lower and less predictable graft take in scarred tissue, and the hard budget limit of your remaining donor supply. Both are assessed and explained before you commit. If we believe a repair cannot meaningfully improve your situation, we will say exactly that.

What does transplant repair cost in Tirana?
Repair sessions use the standard all-inclusive packages, from €3,400 with Sapphire FUE, from €3,600 with DHI, covering procedure, hotel nights and VIP transfers. Complex cases needing staged sessions are quoted as a complete plan up front.
Because repair scopes vary enormously, no price is meaningful until the medical team has reviewed your photos. The review is free and commits you to nothing.

How soon after a bad transplant can I get a repair?
Usually not before 12 months. Transplants keep maturing to 12–18 months, and what looks disappointing at month 6 sometimes improves substantially. Operating too early risks fixing a problem that was still resolving, we review your timeline honestly first.
My donor area was overharvested. Is repair still possible?
Often yes, but within a stricter budget. The team maps what donor supply remains, sometimes including beard donor hair where suitable, and prioritises the corrections with the highest visual impact, usually the hairline. If the honest answer is that too little remains, we tell you that.
Can old plug-like grafts be removed?
In select cases individual grafts can be extracted and redistributed, and more commonly they are camouflaged with fine single grafts placed around and in front of them. Which approach suits your case is a medical-review decision.
Can you fix the scar from my old strip (FUT) surgery?
Linear strip scars can usually be improved by grafting hair directly into the scar tissue, letting surrounding hair cover it at shorter lengths. Take rates in scar tissue are somewhat lower, so expectations are set accordingly.
Will you tell me if my case cannot be improved?
Yes, plainly and for free. Taking on a repair that cannot meaningfully improve a patient helps nobody. A minority of reviews end with advice to wait, to treat medically, or not to operate at all.
